CAHILL ON FORM

by isport

Former Everton star Tim Cahill has been in a rich vein of form over the last few weeks and this has once again helped Shanghai Shenhua get a 1-0 win in the latest league match.

They were up against Guangzhou R&F and the match looked like heading for a draw before Cahill pounced in with an effort just 15 minutes from the final whistle.

The 35-year-old is widely known for his heading and goalscoring ability despite being a midfielder. These qualities came to the rescue of Shanghai Shenhua once again. This is the third goal scored by Cahill in the last four games.

As a result of this victory, the team are slowly climbing up the table. The prospect of winning the title may still be beyond them, but Shanghai will regard this as a great progress. That said, you might be interested to know that bets recommended by contemporary odds as a possible long-shot.

Only until the recent 1-1 draw with Shanghai Shenxin, the team had been on a very poor run of form. They had managed only two wins since the month of May and this has seen them drop significantly from their objective of winning the title. A number of Australian players also found the back of the net during the weekend. The goal scored by Cahill, though, is likely to see him continue his time with the Chinese outfit.

There had been rumours about Cahill leaving the club as soon as he had just joined them. However, he appears to have made up his mind to see out his contract after putting his incredible family home in Australia up for sale.

The player moved to the Chinese league in a deal worth around £ 10 million. He has been playing in the North American MLS over the last few years but he is widely known for his spell with Premier League outfit Everton with whom he played for almost a decade.
